BOS Approves Sum to Update Prescott Construction Costs

Prescott Reuse Committee appeared at last Selectmen meeting to request $3,500 in consulting fees to update construction cost estimates done by an outside firm a few years ago, but which are now out-of-date. They said they are close to finalizing a reuse plan and want to be able to follow-on quickly with an accurate cost estimate. Selectmen approved the expenditure with the proviso that the committee reappear before selectmen with their plan before the money is actually spent.

GELD Gives Town Time to Review Station Ave Options

GELD Manager Kevin Kelly said Electric Light Commissioners agreed to refrain from selling GELD's property at the foot of Station for at least six months so that the Prescott Reuse Committee and the Town will have time to consider options for the property including possibly building an access road from the end of Station Avenue to Broadmeadow Road, and the possibility of vehicle access to the rear of the Prescott School Building from Station Avenue and Broadmeadow Road.

Harker Leaves Charter Committee

Scott Harker of Martins Pond Road resigned his position on the Charter Review Committee at the Committee's July 29 meeting. In his resignation letter he wrote, "It is with extreme regret and very deep reluctance, for reasons of personal health, I am relinquishing my seat on Groton's Charter Review Committee." The Committee voted to accept Mr. Harker's resignation with regret and thanked him for his service. His replacement will be selected by the Finance Committee at their Sept. 2 meeting so that the designee will be ready for the Charter Review Committee Meeting on Sept. 3.
