Selectmen Vacate Foreclosure Decree on Mill Street Property

Selectmen approved vacating a foreclosure decree issued against Attorney Sherrill Gould of Littleton for a property she owns on Mill Street. Gould told the Board that she spent $60,000 last year on the removal of truckloads of contaminated soil from the property.

"I meant to pay, it just got ahead of me," she told the Board.

Gould owes the town $19,657.21 and Town Treasurer Mike Hartnett said that this amount would cover all costs for the property to date. He advised that there have been "lots of extensions" on the property, some dating to 2009.

"Plans were made and never followed through", he said. Once a property received a vacate foreclosure decree, it becomes the property of the town and the previous owner has one year to get it back.
