Classes January 2nd – 10th (Start Dates):

 

FENCING: BEGINNING TO INTERMEDIATE: (Ages 10 & Up) (January 2nd) Fencing is a fun sport that develops coordination and confidence. Equipment is provided. 

HOW TO TAKE GREAT PHOTOGRAPHS: (January 2nd) Learn to see like a photographer and transform your approach from taking pictures to making photographs.

ROMP N’ STOMP DROP IN GYM TIME: (Ages 2-4 and Grade K) (January 3rd) Come drop in for open gym play time. Balls, hula hoops, and more! There is a comfortable lounge area for parents and babies in tow. Play time facilitated by friends from the Groton Newcomers and Friends Club.

YIN YOGA AND ESSENTIAL OILS: (January 3rd) doTERRA essential oils and Yin yoga come together in a blissful hour of aromatherapy exploration for the mind, body & spirit! Yin Yoga opens the body lengthening muscles and strengthening connective tissues. 

IMPROVIING YOUR BRIDGE: (January 3rd)  You will receive instruction in the three main areas of the game: bidding, play of the hand, and defense. Build on your skills and have fun!

SHAKE YOUR SOUL®: THE ENERGY OF DANCE (January 7th) Come move, groove, and get creative in a fun, open and supportive environment with different types of music to inspire you!

PRINTMAKING FOR ALL: (January 7th) Methods include relief printing, linocut printing, chine collé, and monoprint techniques. No experience necessary. 

DRAWING METHODS & TECHNIQUES: MANGA, ZENTANGLE AND MORE! (Grades 5-8) (January 8th) This class is an Introduction to a wide variety of methods and techniques. The class covers Anime or Manga, Zentangle, beginning cartooning and more.

INTRODUCTION TO PICKLEBALL: (January 8th). NOW is the time to give it a try! This fun paddle sport is a combination of tennis, badminton and ping pong. The class is combination of instruction and free play. 

TAI CHI CH’UAN: (January 8th) Class focuses on the mental and physical benefits of the Chen Man Ching short form of Tai Chi Ch’uan. of all levels are welcome to attend both hours.

SMALL MUSEUM GEMS: (January 9th or January 16th) FREE except for $5 registration fee - tour of Earl Carter’s unique private Groton memorabilia collection. Space is limited.. Meet at the Prescott School at 10:00 AM. JUSTICE: WHAT’S THE RIGHT THING TO DO: (January 8th) Discussions of the first six lectures of Michael Sandel’s Harvard University course on justice and ethics.The ethics concepts underpinning our social justice principles and the real world challenges that Sandel presents are discussed each week. 

OH, THE PLACES YOU’LL GO!: (January 9th) Join this “experienced adventurer” for a fun and frolicking romp through some of her best-loved destinations. Learn basic tips on everything from planning your dream vacation to packing light.

GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY - POTTERY AND CERAMICS: (January 10th) Students will make a variety of hand-built stoneware pieces and work on the potter’s wheel. Topics covered include: centering, thinning the walls, trimming, making a foot, slabs, glazing, under glazing, use of texture, and color. 

WRITING: A PLACE TO BEGIN: (January 10th) A safe, non-judgmental space for beginning and experienced writers, whether you want to develop a consistent discipline, or are struggling to break “writer’s block”.
