PIPELINE: Legal Fund Rejected

Selectman rejected a proposal to appropriate $50,000 for a Pipeline legal fund. Because the purpose of such a fund was not clear, because no other towns affected by the pipeline had raised such a fund, and because existing town legal funds could be used in an emergency, Selectmen decided to reconsider such an appropriation for Spring Town Meeting. Finance Committee member Bob Hargraves said "using public funds at this juncture is premature."
