Mandatory Water Conservation Program

Groton Board of Water Commissioners voted May 12 to institute a Mandatory Odd/Even Water Conservation Program this summer. We ask that every customer make the effort to comply with theProgram.

The program runs May 1-Oct. 1 and is designed to provide customers with the convenience of both morning and evening hours.

Watering during middle of the day will harm your lawn and has greatest potential for evaporation.

If your home has an odd numbered address, you may use your outside water spigots and sprinklers for watering grass, shrubs, plants and gardens on odd numbered calendar days, 12 a.m. (midnight) to 9a.m. and 6 to 9 p.m.

If your home has an even numbered address, you may use your outside water spigots and sprinklers for watering grass, shrubs, plants and gardens on even numbered calendar days, 12 a.m. (midnight) to 9 a.m. and 6. to 9p.m.

In addition, all irrigation systems must be retrofitted with a moisture sensor. Moisture sensors will automatically shut-down your irrigation system if it is raining or if no additional water is required for your lawn. Refer to (www.grotonwater.org) for more info.
