Groton Lineworkers Are Tops and Our Electric Rates Are Low

GELD's team of Ryan, Jon and Bruce placed second at last week's New England Lineworkers Rodeo. The team was a single point behind a team from Connecticut, so they were the highest ranked team from Massachusetts.

Kevin Kelly of Groton Electric Light Dept. reports the following extremely favorable comparison of GELD rates with neighboring towns:

For the previous 12 months a National Grid residential customer (Ayer, Pepperell, Shirley, Westford) using 750 kWh per month would have had a bill: 62 percent higher than a GELD customer.

A Unitil customer (Townsend) would have had a bill 90.4% higher than GELD.

National Grid just announced their October rate increase.

It is likely GELD will have a winter power cost adjustment, but the increase will be lower than that of NGrid.
