Groton Dancer in "Nutcracker"

Amelia Maguire of Groton will be featured in Commonwealth Ballet Company's "The Nutcracker", which opens this month in Acton. A junior at Groton-Dunstable Regional High School, Amelia has been a member of the Company since 2012. She trains at Acton School of Ballet and has completed summer intensive programs with the Bolshoi Ballet Academy in New York City and Princeton Ballet, the training school of American Repertory Ballet. Roles she will perform in this year's production include Dew Drop Fairy; Arabian Girl; Columbine Doll, Russian Girl; and Merliton.

Amelia and the other dancers of Commonwealth Ballet will be joined by several guest artists, including Anna Liceica and Vitali Krauchenka, both formerly of American Ballet Theatre, and sixty local ballet students.

Now in its twenty-fourth season, Commonwealth Ballet Company brings classical ballet to Metrowest families in productions praised for their artistry and warmth. Evening and matinee performances will be held at Acton-Boxborough Regional High School, 36 Charter Road in Acton Nov. 27nd-29th, and at Regis College's Casey Theatre, 235 Wellesley St. in Weston from Dec. 11th-13th.
