On Friday evening May 2, at Groton Pool & Golf Center, Groton Board of Trade (GBOT) will hold what it hopes is the first of many annual auction fundraisers. GBOT President and Co-Founder, Steve Webber, confirmed that, "half of the net proceeds will go to one or more worthy causes; GBOT will retain the other half of the net funds for other worthwhile endeavors."

Webber said, "We are very excited about our first major fundraiser. GBOT's board of directors voted unanimously in favor of this annual fundraising and fund-sharing plan. Interested parties can visit to find both the criteria and application."

GBOT plans to gather donations from local businesses and residents and then auction off those items at the May 2 event. Joe Fiorentino is GBOT's Auction Chair and a realtor with EXIT Assurance Realty in Groton, said, Ticket prices and a menu haven't yet been set, but we will update our web site as we get closer to the event. In the meantime, our Donations Committee will be reaching out to the business community for support." Fiorentino said, "I have lived and worked in Groton most of my life, and I know we have a generous and committed business community. I am confident that this will be a big success."
