Charter Review Committee: Public Hearing to Solicit Charter Changes

The Town of Groton Charter Review Committee announces a kickoff public hearing, starting the process of the review of the town's charter. The public hearing will be held Wednesday, July 22, 2015, starting at 7PM at Town Hall, 173 Main St., Groton in the Second Floor Conference Room.

Groton's Charter has been in effect since 2008. It is the Town's "constitution".  It is intended to be reviewed on a periodic basis. The July 22 public hearing is the beginning of the process to conduct the first comprehensive review of the document.  At this hearing, an overview of the Charter, the review process, the review schedule , and the process for submitting suggestions will be presented. Questions and comments about the process as well as ideas for changes to the charter will be encouraged.

The public is encouraged to attend this hearing and all the Committee's meetings.  Follow the Committee's progress atwww.townofgroton.org.

Although there will be public hearings for residents to offer suggestions, the committee encourages written suggestions at any time, having set up an email address to receive these comments.
