SCHOOLS: Three Women Named Superintendent Finalists

Wednesday night he School Committee announced three finalists for the Groton-Dunstable Superintendent's position and will interview the candidates Friday, Jan. 4; Monday, Jan. 7 and Tuesday, Jan. 8. The interviews will be conducted during special school committee meetings and are open to the public. The finalists are all women and all are currently superintendents in their respective districts.

The finalists are Ann Bradshaw, Superintendent of Mashee

Public Schools; Maria Galinski, Superintendent of Beverly Public Schools; and Maureen Ward, Superintendent of SAU 18 School District in New Hampshire which includes the towns of Franklin and Hill.

Bradshaw has been Superintendent in Mashpee since 2005. She holds a C.A.G.S. from Fitchburg State and Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Bridgewater State College. She is licensed in Massachusetts as a superintendent, school business administrator and principal.

Galinski has been Superintendent in Beverly since 2010. Prior to that she was Assistant Superintendent in Beverly from 2004 to 2010. She holds a doctorate in Education from Northeastern University and Master's and Bachelor's degrees from Merrimack College. She is licensed in Massachusetts as a superintendent and principal.

Ward has been Superintendent of Schools in SAU 189 School District since 2010. Prior to that she was Assistant Superintendent of SAU 21 School District from 2006 to 2010. SAU 21 includes the towns of Seabrook, North Hampton, South Hampton, Hampton Falls and Winnacunnet Cooperative High School. She holds a doctorate in Education from Sarasota University in Florida, a Master's Degree from San Diego Univerity in California and a Bachelor's Degree from the University of British Columbia.

School Committee member Leslie Lathrop, chair of the Screening Committee who selected the finalists, said the Committee was pleased with the quality of applicants for the position. Lathrop said the committee reviewed 26 completed applications and of the 26, half held positions as Superintendent of Schools. Applicants came from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and Kansas.
