SCHOOLS: Groton Student Receives GSTEM Scholarship
GDSTEM has awarded its first $500 scholarship for a summer STEM enrichment program to Leah Mitchell of Groton, a sophomore at Groton Dunstable Regional High School. Leah will attend a National Youth Leadership Forum: Careers in Engineering & Technology at Georgia Tech, Atlanta, GA, at the end of June. She was nominated by her engineering teacher.
The eight-day program exposes students to different fields of engineering and offer hands-on extension activities. In her essay, Leah reported she has loved science, math and engineering for as long as she can remember and hopes the experience will help her narrow down a career path and help with the college decision process.
GDSTEM is a volunteer organization of parents, educators and community partners with the goal of promoting and supporting Science, Technology, Engineering and Math education in Groton-Dunstable schools. For more info or to become involved, visit www.gdstem.org or email info@gdstem.org.
