Music Appreciation Class Explores Beethoven's Symphonies

Expand your musical knowledge at a new lecture series at Indian Hill Music School. This month, Orchestra of Indian Hill artistic director and conductor Bruce Hangen will offer "Drama & Declamation: Beethoven's Symphonic Writing" on Saturday, February 21, 10-11:30 am at 36 King St. (Rte. 495/Exit 30), Littleton. Fee $20 per person. Reserve a spot at (978) 486-9524 (press 0).

In addition to presenting recordings of his favorite moments of Beethoven's symphonic writing, Bruce will delve into those moments that really demonstrate the composer's genius. All music lovers are invited to bring their ears and curiosity for learning new perspectives on Beethoven, "a creative genius who garners the ultimate respect from musicians and brings audiences to tears, despite the fact that he would have just celebrated his 244th birthday!" adds Bruce.

The lecture is an ideal preview for two upcoming Orchestra of Indian Hill concerts that will feature works by Beethoven: the March 1 concert will offer Beethoven's Third Symphony (Eroica) and the April 25 season finale will showcase our own musicians in the amazing Triple Concerto. Learn more about these concerts and other music appreciation lectures at or call (978) 486-9524 (press 0).
