HEADED To State Science and Engineering Fair
Students from Oak Meadow School in Littleton recently competed in the Mass. Regional Science and Engineering Fair at UMass-Lowell. Ten students qualified to represent Oak Meadow School, in which over 250 students from area middle schools participated.
Of the 40 students that then qualified to move on to state-level competition, four were Oak Meadows students - a remarkable achievement for a small school!
6th grader and Groton resident Ava Goldman's project "The Cooling Effect of Mint", tested the effect of mint on the temperature water; Ava earned a second place win.
7th grader and Groton resident Amelia Kovacs' project "Looking at Light Through a Broader Spectrum", compared halogen, LED and fluorescent lightbulbs to an incandescent lightbulb through a spectroscope; Amelia earned a third place win.
Both Ava and Amelia will be continuing on to the State Science and Engineering Fair in Worcester in June. Congratulations!
