Country Day School Presents "The Marvelous Land of Oz"

Country Day School in Groton has its annual performance of the Junior Drama Club this week. Third, fourth and fifth graders will be presenting "The Marvelous Land of Oz", a play adapted from L. Frank Baum's second book.

The story takes place after the widely known "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". The main character of the story is a young boy, Tip, who has been under the guardianship of a witch named Mombi. Join Tip's fantastical journey with some old favorites (Scarecrow and Tin Woodsman) and meet some new characters (Saw Horse and Pumpkin Head) as they set off on an adventure filled with magic, sorcery and discovery.

The script and songs were created by Edie Tompkins. Performances are Friday, May 9, 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 10, 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Country Day School, 14 Main St., Groton. Admission $5 and tickets can be purchased at the door. www.cdsholyunion.org
