Fort Devens Book Group

Fort Devens Museum is forming a book group devoted to exploring what's being written about our military past. This group will meet periodically at Fort Devens Museum to discuss a book on some aspect of military history.

The first book chosen is Doug Stanton's Horse Soldiers which is described as:  "The dramatic account of a small band of Special Forces soldiers who secretly entered Afghanistan following 9/11 and rode to war on horses against the Taliban. Outnumbered 40 to one, they pursued the enemy army across the mountainous Afghanistan terrain and, after a series of intense battles, captured the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, which was strategically essential to defeat their opponent throughout the country."

Those interested are encouraged to find the book in their library (or perhaps it's already on your shelf!) and read it by mid-September. Then join the discussion at Fort Devens Museum Friday, Septt. 25 at noon to share thoughts and reactions to Horse Soldiers. Call 978-772-1286 or email info@fortdevensmuseum.org for more info. Fort Devens Museum is located at 94 Jackson Road, third floor, Devens.
