The Groton Public Library and the Merrimack Valley Library Consortium (MVLC) are migrating to a New System, Symphony, on May 18. Symphony will better serve you! Starting with:
• Improved searching;
• Personalized lists and suggestions;
• Multiple languages;
• Enhanced mobile-friendly accessibility; and
• Ability to pay online with a credit or debit card.
And that’s just the beginning!

Adult Programs
Discovering New England Stone Walls with Kevin Gardner. Tues, May 30, 7-8:30 pm. Kevin’s informal talk covers a few of the main topics of his book about New England stone walls, The Granite Kiss, touching on history, technique, stylistic development, and aesthetics. He explains how and why New England came to acquire its thousands of miles of stone walls, the ways in which they and other dry stone structures were built, how their styles emerged and changed over time and their significance to the famous New England landscape.

Ray Ciemny, Recast. May 9 – July 29. Groton Blacksmith Ray Ciemny shares some new directions in his personal experience of art making. There will be an Artist Reception and a talk about the Recast project on Tuesday evening, June 6, at 7:00.

YA Events
Make and Take Club for Grades 6-12: Felting with Rachel Benson. Tues, May 16, 3-4:30 pm. Get a taste of the fun possibilities of experimenting and creating with fiber.  Participants will learn the basics of needle felting and wet felting while making a needle felted fish and a wet felted plant both will be put in a glass jar. The plan is for everyone to leave with a finished or at least started fun creative fish bowl. All the supplies and instructions will be provided for you.  Relax and have fun with friends! Children’s Events
Spanish Class for Kids! Saturdays, May 6, 20, 27 & June 10, 17
Grades 1-2: 10-10:45 am Grades 3-4: 11am-12 pm Spanish lessons will be led by Catherine de Groot, a high school senior who has also taught Spanish at the elementary school extended day programs. Students will be introduced to topics like colors, numbers, animals, and conversation in a fun and interactive environment. Each lesson will be based on activities and will conclude with ‘Spanish Journals” to keep track of their new words. Sign up at gpl.org for 5 weeks.
Build a Fairy House! Sat, May 20, 10:30-12:30. Build a fairy house with Monique. We will go outside to gather objects from nature to use to construct unique and wonderful fairy houses. For children ages 8-12. Space is limited, sign up at gpl.org. Sponsored by the Town of Groton Trust Funds Lecture Fund.
