YOUNG ADULT Winter Reading Program:

Warm Up to a Good Book! Young adults in Grades six-12 are invited to join our Winter Reading Program! Log the books you read between Dec. 19 and Feb. 24 and earn prizes. Open to any MA young adult with a valid library card and PIN. Made possible by GPL Endowment Trust.

 

GROTON HISTORICAL SOCIETY AND GPL PRESENT:

Medical Practice in Early Small American Towns

Tues, Jan. 13, 7 p.m. at the library's Sibley Hall. Medical scholar Constance Putnam, Ph.D. will discuss medical treatment in the 1790s-1830s. Dr. Putnam is an expert in the field of Medical History, Bioethics, and Medical education. Made possible by a grant from Commissioners of Trust Funds. Free and open to the public.  (Snow date: Tues, Jan. 20 at 7 pm)

 

YOUNG ADULT PROGRAMS:

Magic the Gathering Club, Wed, Jan. 7 & 21, 3-5 pm. Come play Magic the Gathering in a fun, relaxed way with your friends. Prizes and refreshments provided by  GPL Endowment Fund. Grades 6 and up.

YA Anime Club, Wed, Jan. 8, 7-8:30 pm. View episodes of your favorite anime shows downloaded from Crunchyroll. Drawing supplies and refreshments are provided. Grades 6-12.

Crafternoon for Grades six-12 (Minecraft &/or Arts & Crafts), Wednesdays, Jan. 14 & 28, 3-4:30 pm. Sibley Hall is reserved for you, and laptops are available for you and friends to play online games like

Minecraft. Or, if you prefer to do manual, rather than digital crafting, a craft table will be set up with a project for the day.

*NEW* Lego® Mindstorms® Club for Grades six-12, Thurs, Jan. 22, 7-8:30 pm. This is the first of what we hope will be a monthly club for members to learn and practice robotics skills, using Lego® Mindstorms® EV3 kits.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

(Online registration begins one week before each program and preference is given to Groton residents, except for Drop-In Craft):

Tales and Tunes for Tots, Fri, Jan. 9, 10:30-11:15 am. Online registration begins one week before the program. Preference given to Groton residents.

Printmaking with a Pasta Machine Press -Ages 7-10,** Tues, Jan. 13, 4-5:30 pm. Artist Suzanne Hauerstein teaches children how to make a beautiful print by etching Styrofoam, rolling it with ink, and sending it through a pasta machine! Registration required.

Creative Kids Drop-In Craft, Tues., 10 am - 3 pm. Drop-in freestyle craft in the Children's Room.

Mother Goose Story Time, Wednesdays, 10:30-11 am & 11:15-11:45 am (resumes Jan 7). For babies & toddlers and their caregivers.

Story Time for 3, 4 & 5 Year-Olds, Thursdays, 10:30-11 am (resumes Jan 8).

Chapter Book Read-Aloud with Jennie, Thurs, Jan. 8 & 15, 4-4:30 pm. Jennie Fitzkee reads aloud from some of the best children's chapter books. Grades K-2.

LEGO® Club, Tues, Jan. 20, 4-5 pm. Bring your imagination! We've got the LEGO® bricks! Sign up online one week ahead.

Minecraft for Grades 2 and Up, Wed, Jan. 28, 7-8 pm. Play Minecraft together on the library's dedicated server.
