Groton remembered their many veterans on November 11, 2020 at 11 a.m. with a small ceremony at Sawyer Common led by Donald Black. Members of the Groton Police Department with Chief Mike Luth stood at attention for the remembrance. At the end of the brief ceremony, Chief Luth fired the cannon as a salute in memory of long-time Groton Veterans Agent Bob Johnson. (see photo right)
As is the custom, Black, assisted by Devon Carter and Select Board member John Reilly, lowered and retired the American Flag that has flown over the Veterans Common for the past 365 days (since Nov. 11, 2019) and raised a new flag to overlook the Common for the next 365 days.
