After making the district and all-state choirs, Taryn Emerle from Groton Dunstable Regional High School was selected for the 2019 All-National Honor Ensemble organized by the National Association for Music Educa- tion (NAfME). The mixed choir ensemble, which is considered the “best of the best” from high schools across the nation, performed on November 9, 2019, in Orlando, Florida. Now a senior Taryn began her endeavor to become the first girl from Groton Dunstable Regional High School to make it into the All-National Honor Ensemble started early in her junior year auditioning for the Massachusetts Central District Choir. Upon being accepted into that choir with a perfect audition score, she was recommended for an audition for the Massachusetts All-State Choir, where she was again accepted, allowing her to audition for the prestigious All- National Honor Ensemble.
Taryn has been a very active participant of the Chamber Choir led by Mr. Savoy. She has been a member for four years and now leads her section, as well as holding an officer position in the school’s Tri-M Music Honors Society. This choir is set to perform in Spain in 2020. Outside the music program, Taryn is also an athlete. She is on the school’s Cross Country and Track and Field teams. She said of her experience in the All-National Honor Ensemble, “It was so eye-opening to be around kids from all over the country and from such diverse backgrounds. We all couldn’t have been more different, but we had music in common. It was a pretty powerful experience to hear everyone come together for the show.”
