G-D Chamber Choir Draws a Crowd
About 300 people turned out for a concert featuring the Groton-Dunstable High School Chamber Choir at St. Joseph’s Church in Pepperell on Sunday afternoon Dec. 2. In addition to about a dozen chorale pieces sung by the Chamber Choir, spanning a variety of genres, the concert also featured a selection of Aaron Copland’s Old American Songs performed by Matt Rimkus and Tonya Callahan.
The G-D Chamber Choir, under the direction of Mr. Timothy Savoy, is renowned for its choral performances. Over the past decade, the group has received dozens of awards in national and regional competitions and has performed internationally, including at the 2012 Olympics in London. Last April, the Chamber Choir performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City with renowned composer Eric Whitacre. Next year, the group will once again travel to Europe for a singing tour in Spain.
