Thor Berge
Thor Berge of Groton, passed away at the age of 72 following a lengthy illness. Born in Stavenger, Norway, Thor immigrated to the United States when he was 6 years old, residing in Brooklyn, New York with his family. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and Barrington College, later serving in the United States Army. Following his service, he worked for the Travelers Insurance Company, The New England, and Back Bay Advisors. Later in his retirement, he found great joy and friendship in his work at Reeds Ferry Sheds. Thor was a member of the Union Congregational Church of Groton.
Thor is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lois, and his children; Adrienne Loth and her husband William, of Clinton, CT., Carla Berge and her husband Tim Carleton, of Groton, and Darren Berge and his wife Melanie, of Shrewsbury, MA. He also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, Kayla and Connor Loth, Paige and Reaghan Carleton, and Braydon and Avery Berge, as well as a nephew, David Berge, and a goddaughter, Kristina Berge, of Worcester, MA. He is predeceased by his brother, Sven, and his parents, Steve and Bergit Berge.
Services will be private and held at a later date.
