OBITUARY: Rhoda Curtis, 93

Rhoda Curtis passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 21, 2013 at the age of 93.

Rhoda is predeceased by her parents, Arthur and Rhoda (Richardson) Colenso, her brother, Henry Colenso, and her daughter Joan Curtis.

Rhoda is lovingly remembered by her sister Thora Colenso of Holiday Florida; her sons Gordon Curtis of Berlin, NJ and Glenn Curtis of Rochester, NY, her daughter Janice Flynn of Groton MA, and five grandchildren.

Rhoda was born in Burnley, Lancashire England in 1920. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1929. She graduated from high school in Detroit Michigan in 1938, and went on to attend the University of Michigan, studying architecture.

For many years, Rhoda worked as an Accountant at Xerox Corporation in Webster, NY.

Rhoda enjoyed painting, sewing, gardening, reading and golf. Rhoda and her daughters bred and showed champion Boxers for many years. Rhoda loved animals and the beauty of nature. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Webster NY.

After moving to Groton in 2008, Rhoda greatly enjoyed the people that she met, and the time that she spent at Cooperative Elder Services in West Groton.
