OBITUARY: Marilyn T. Trecartin

Marilyn T. Trecartin of Groton died at her home on September 8, after a long illness, surrounded by family. She was born in Lynn June 19, 1931 daughter of the late Dennis J. and Gladys (Rankin) Burke. She spent her early life in Lynn and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School class of 1948. She had been employed at the Lynn Hospital in her earlier years as a secretary.

After her marriage in 1957 to her late husband Donald G. Trecartin, a career member of the United States Coast Guard, they spent many years assigned to different duty stations in the New England area including the United States Coast Guard Academy in New London, Connecticut, South Portland, Maine lighthouses on Bakers Island off the coast of Salem and Beverly, Brant Point on the Island of Nantucket.

Upon his retirement from the Coast Guard they relocated to West Groton, MA. where she was involved in many organizations from taking minutes at Town Meeting to an election worker in West Groton for many years. A long time parishioner at St. James Church in West Groton she was active as a Eucharistic Minister, Legion of Mary, Council of Churches, Woman's Club and the Senior Center making several trips with them. In her spare time she also enjoyed bowling, knitting and playing bingo.

She is survived by her children: Two sons Donald G. Trecartin and Steven Trecartin of Milford, NH., a daughter Teresa Maillet of West Groton, seven grandchildren, and was the grandmother of the late Adam Gerrish Trecartin. She also survived by two brothers, Richard W. Burke of West Boylston, and Arnold D. Burke of Scottville, MI., one sister Ellen Daley of Manchester CT. as well as many nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Robert Burke and Barbara Carpenter.
