Obituary: John "Jack" C. Vaillancourt

John "Jack" C. Vaillancourt, 81, died peacefully at his home in Groton, Tuesday, October 20, 2015. He was married to Nyola Vaillancourt with whom he would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary November 1, 2015.

Born in Lowell, he was the son of the late Arthur and Mildred Vaillancourt. He graduated from the Vocational High School of Lowell. He proudly served as a paratrooper engineer with the U.S. Army and was in the Naval Reserves.

He was a former member and Union Steward of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners Local. Jack worked as a union carpenter for 36 years and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local Union 111 for 60 years. He retired from the Groton Dunstable Public Schools where he worked as a mail carrier.

He was a former member and officer of the DLKV Lithuanian Club.

Jack was a craftsman who built his own custom contemporary home. He enjoyed nature and international travel.

His greatest pride and joy was spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons: Mark and his wife, Terisa Vaillancourt of Hamilton, VA; Erik and his wife, Lisa Vaillancourt of San Jose, CA; and Kurt and his wife, Denise Vaillancourt of Morgan Hill, CA; daughter, Renee and her husband, Eric Lantz of Tyngsboro; two sisters-in-law, Carol Vaillancourt of Dunstable and Ramona and her husband, Paul Kosciolek of Lowell; brother-in-law, Robert and his wife, Elaine Romanauskas of Lowell; 11 grandchildren, Irie Lantz, Yanna Lantz, Kara Vaillancourt, Lana Vaillancourt, Luke Vaillancourt, Jacob Vaillancourt, Joshua  Vaillancourt, Talia Vaillancourt, Saskia Vaillancourt, Katia Vaillancourt and Thor Vaillancourt and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Donald Vaillancourt, Robert Vaillancourt, Clifford Vaillancourt, Roland Vaillancourt, Gerald Vaillancourt, Elinor Bernier and Shirley Rock

Visiting hours are Monday, Oct. 26 from 2 to 6 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Dolan Funeral Home, 106 Middlesex St. Chelmsford. Burial in Groton Cemetery. Arrangements by Dolan Funeral Home, 978-251-4041. Guestbook at www.dolanfuneralhome.com
