OBITUARY: James Roderick Western

James Roderick Western, (Jim) age 92, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2017 in Farragut Tn. He was born on June 12, 1924 in Northampton. Jim was a graduate of Harvard College,
the class of 1949.

As a member of the 10th Mountain Division of the U.S. Army, Jim honorably served
our country from 1943 to 1946.

In 1949, Jim married Audrey J. Richer. For 56 years, they made their home in Groton.

He is survived by his wife, Audrey, their four children; Sheila (John) Proctor, Christopher (Karen) Western, Julia (Steve) Vasgaard, and Rod (Charlene) Western.

He is also survived by ten grandchildren, and five great-grand children.

Jim had an inquisitive mind and skeptical inquiry in all aspects of knowledge. He never turned down an apple pie and was always ready with a jingle, rhyme, or joke. His kindness, wit, and interest in others will always be remembered by those who knew him.
