OBITUARY: Dennis R. “Denny” Bennett, 64

Dennis R. “Denny” Bennett, 64, of Groton passed away Friday August 4, 2017 at home after a long battle with cancer. Denny was born in Boston on October 15, 1952, son of Theresa (Wingfield) Montello and Gerard Bennett. He spent his early life growing up in Dorchester and Roxbury. He resided in Groton over the last 51 years surrounded by a large group of family and friends. Denny was employed as a Master electrician at Hollingsworth & Vose of West Groton for 46 years.

Denny loved to travel with his wife of 46 years, Mary Joan “Mia” (Duffy) Bennett to anywhere tropical. He also enjoyed skiing, biking, kayaking, taking pictures of his family, playing Scrabble, watching live music, and many challenging adventures. He also enjoyed spending time with his three grandchildren Presley, Samantha and Grayson.

Denny and his family are forever grateful to the physicians and staff at Dana Farber Cancer Institute for their compassion and care, allowing him to spend more quality time with his family and friends.

In addition to his wife “Mia”, he is survived by his children: Craig Bennett and his wife Lorie of Groton; Keith Bennett and his wife Katelyn of Bonita Springs, FL.

He also leaves behind his mother Theresa (Wingfield) Montello of Groton; brother Gerard Bennett of South Pasadena, CA; sister Debra Monat of Townsend; brother David Bennett of Marlborough; brother Anthony Bennett of Shirley; and sister Mary Cullinan of Shirley. A celebration of his life was celebrated Friday, August 11, 2017 at the Barn at Gibbet Hill Grill, Groton.
