Select Board Seeks More Liquor Licenses To Meet Growing Hospitality Industry Demand
by Connie Sartini
Spring Town Meeting voters authorized the Select Board to petition the Massachusetts General Court for an increase in the number of liquor licenses available in Groton.
The additional licenses include three licenses for restaurants for the sale of on-premises, all-alcoholic beverages and two additional licenses for the sale of off-premises licenses for package stores for a total of five new licenses.
The Select Board’s Office has received several inquiries for additional licenses for various sites around town.
The state usually grants the request from a town for additional licenses based on population.
