House Fire At 244 Nashua Road

A fire Monday morning in this home at 244 Nashua Road left the structure uninhabitable, according to Groton Fire Chief Steele McCurdy. Calls for the fire came in at around 11:09 a.m. with emergency personnel arriving about five minutes later. There were no injuries.

Chief McCurdy said there was "very heavy amount of fire on the second floor of a split-level home with some collapse that was already occurring" when the Fire fighters arrived at the scene. McCurdy said the homeowner, the only resident of the dwelling, was not home at the time of the fire. Ayer, Littleton, Westford, Dunstable, Pepperell, Townsend, Tyngsboro and Devens all responded for assistance. The fire was extinguished in about an hour.

Chief McCurdy said that the cause of the fire was under investigation.
