GD Staff Member Allegedly Gave Marijuana Edibles To Another Staffer On School Grounds
by Russell Harris
Superintendent of Schools Dr. Laura Chesson sent the following email to parents of Groton-Dunstable Regional School District students and to Police Chief Michael Luth and Sgt. Rachael Mead on Fri, Nov 2, 2018 at 6:04 PM
“Good afternoon, it is our practice not to comment on personnel matters, however, an incident arose this week that we wanted the community to be aware of in order to dispel inaccurate rumors. This week information came to our attention that one staff member allegedly gave another staff member a food product containing marijuana on school grounds. Both individuals were immediately placed on administrative leave pending an investigation. Students were not involved and were not in any danger. We are not able to provide any additional information as the investigation is on-going.”
Contacted by the Groton Herald, Police Chief Michael said the investigation is ongoing and that, until further notice, all public information would be distributed through the office of the Superintendent of Schools.
Given the lack of public information, there has been speculation as to where the incident took place - whether at the Elementary, Middle School or High Schools. Also, a knowledgeable member of the community cautioned that the public should not assume that any teachers were involved.
