COA Presents Community-Focused Flexible-Design Senior Center At Lower Cost

Architect's Rendering of light-filled lobby of proposed Senior Center building to be discussed & voted at Spring Town Meeting starting Monday evening April 30 at 7 pm. The Senior Center Building is Article 5 on the Town Warrant and is likely to be debated early on the first night of town meeting. [See floor plan of proposed building on page 3] Total cost of the building is $5,437,000. Funding, if passed at Town Meeting and the ballot box would result in a charge of about $90 per year per average household in Groton. The  actual impact on the taxpayer will be reduced further by retirement of $2,675,000 of long term debt as of July 2019. If approved, the architect estimates it will take about a year to complete construction of the building.
