BOH & Select Board Decline To Prohibt Construction Activity Or Restaurant Takeout

by Connie Sartini

Town Manager Mark Haddad updated the Select Board on the recent decisions by the Groton Board of Health. Following last week’s joint meeting between the Select Board and the Board of Health, the Board of Health met on the two issues that were discussed and have declined to prohibit both construction in Groton and restaurant take out service.
They did, however, reaffirm their support for actions taken by the Town Manager and Land Use Director to protect town employees and local construction workers.
The Building Department will continue to accept permit applications but will not issue any permits until at least April 7. That date will be reviewed by the Town Manger to determine if it needs to be extended.
Exterior property inspections will be allowed as long as a particular inspector is performing said inspection.
Interior Inspections are not allowed under any circumstances.
Interior inspections in unoccupied buildings can be performed as long as the Inspector is comfortable performing and a comprehensive questionnaire is completed and approved by the Building Inspector and the Fire Chief.
