Boards & Committees Will Meet Using Virtual Meeting Technology

by Connie Sartini

At the recommendation of Town Manager Mark Haddad, the Select Board voted unanimously to authorize boards and committees to meet and conduct public hearings using virtual meeting technology. Haddad will put the protocols in place that need to be used through Zoom, enabling the public to participate as well as town officials. “I really want to allow Boards to conduct town business,” he said.
He added that he would work with the IT Department and various boards and committees to coordinate any meetings. All meeting must be posted with 48 hours’ notice in compliance with the Open Meeting Law.
In addition, to allow better public access to meetings, the town will start using the Webinar Function on Zoom that allows the public actually to join the meeting and participate when called on by the chair.
