Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released the new 2018 Fatal Injury Data. In Massachusetts, suicide is the second leading overall cause of youth death and every 4.45 days on an average a young person (ages 10-24) is lost to the silent epidemic of youth suicide.
With that being said, suicide is one of the leading causes of preventable death. Four out of every five young people who attempt suicide exhibit clear warning signs before an attempt. That means in 80% of attempts you have an opportunity to recognize these warning signs and intervene. By knowing the warning signs associated with suicide and knowing how to help, you could save a life.
If you or someone you love is struggling with depression and/ or thinking about suicide, get help now.
