Spirit of Holidays Inspired Generous Outpouring of Assistance

Once again the spirit of the December holidayswas alive in our community as demonstrated by the outpouring of assistance given to the Community Children’s Fund. This Fund was begun by the Commissioners of Trust Funds over twenty-five years ago to help local families in need during the December holidays with gifts and food. Because of the generosity of so many, this Fund is now available to help year-round for things like summer camp programs, summer school tuition, field trips, school supplies/clothing, etc. This year, 18 families with 60 children were helped during the December holidays.
The Commissioners of Trust Funds would like to acknowledge and thank the people who continue to participate in the joy of giving by supporting this Fund. Some of these include:
• KW Realty Boston, Northwest
• The Bored of Direkters
• First Parish Church Giving Tree
• Groton Fire Department
• Groton Police Department
• Our Lady of Grace Knights of Columbus
• Staff and students from the Florence Roche School
• Swallow Union Elementary School
• Groton-Dunstable Middle School
• Groton-Dunstable Regional High School.
We have several anonymous contributors each year who either support the program through their financial donations or by choosing to “adopt” the child’s list and shop for them.
Also, this year, we would like to thank that Groton Station House Restaurant who donated meals for the families to choose from when they picked up their gifts. This was a real treat for the parents.
There are many more that need to be thanked for their annual donations who, without them, this Fund would not continue. 100% of the monies collected are used to benefit families in our community so that children should not bear the burden of a financial crisis.
If you would like to make a donation, please make it payable to Community Children’s Fund and send it to 173 Main Street, Groton, MA 01450.
If you are in need of assistance, please call me at 978-877- 6787. Confidentiality is strictly maintained.
Sincerely,
Karen F. Tuomi, Executive Director
