LETTER: Groton Public Library: Thanks For Your Patience
To the Editor:
The Groton Public Library is being re-carpeted for two-three weeks starting Monday, April 29. The extended timeframe is because of the need to remove and temporarily store all the books and materials before the shelving can be taken down. After the new carpet is installed, the process happens in reverse. Only when one area is completed can the next area be started on, and so on.
Fortunately, the Children’s Room is not being re-carpeted, nor are our largest meeting rooms. Because of this, the Library will remain open, but only on the first floor. For the safety of all, the second and third floors will be closed during this time. Children’s will be fully functional, and basic services will be available on the first floor for adults and teens. All library users will be able to pick up holds, place holds, return items, browse a few titles, look at current newspapers and magazines, and/or use two express computers in the lobby. No overdue fines will accrue during this time, and all patrons are being given extended due dates of May 21 for any items checked out now.
Everyone at GPL sincerely appreciates Groton’s support of the Library. We are doing our utmost to continue to provide you with all possible services throughout this process. We thank you for your patience and look forward to welcoming you all back into your newly refreshed library! Any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at 978-448-8000, firstname.lastname@example.org, or in person.
