LETTER: Is Groton a Clique?
Dear Editor:
Is Groton a clique? Where the zoning and floodplain laws apply to the few and not the many? When calls to the Town Manager and ZBA secretary go unanswered?
I need to appeal a decision by the Building Inspector not to enforce the FEMA and state and local floodplain regulations. If I can't get a ZBA hearing, my rights to "due process" have been violated.
A call to Town Counsel was equally fruitless. Town Counsel Goldberg says, "I can't talk to you Mr. Stephens because I may have to defend the Town." Defend against what? The problem I am having is that the Building Inspector says one thing but does another.
In a letter dated Nov. 5, 2015, he orders my neighbor to remove cement block walls placed in the 100-year floodplain without permits or an okay from the Conservation Commission. The area is a serious flood area once it gets going. The cement block walls are in a direct flow position to the Nashua River. A dangerous situation.
All conservation interests should call the selectmen and demand justice.
