LETTER: Concerned About Possibility of Ticket Tax

To The Editor,

I am concerned about the possibility of a ticket tax on Indian Hill events. I think this is very short sighted and would set a dangerous precedent. We need to have a vision of Groton in time to come. I understand that school events would be excluded and they should be. But what about library, COA, and History Center events and fund-raising events of various organizations? Maybe they don't come up to 200 attendants now, but who is to say they won't in the future? This is a town with possibilities for a fantastic cultural future.

If the town needs more money, how about bringing our tax structure up to the 21st century. Should CVS, Shaw's, and Dunkin Donuts, among others, be paying the same tax rate as you and I do? I think not.
