Investing In A Quality-of- Life Institution

Dear Town Manager Haddad and Select Board Members,
Your decision to accept the Excel bid for sprinklers in the Prescott School and your continued support of this truly Center-of-our-Groton-Community is greatly appreciated by many of the people who trust and support you.
I thank you for investing in the quality-of-life institutions that make us proud to have made Groton our home. The depth of commitment to the true New England tradition of integrity for the greater common good, that Mary Jennings has motivated so devotedly for years now, brings many of us to rally around her, the Prescott Project and all those in our town leadership who go the extra mile to honor the promise of real community.
If this Corona Virus has taught us anything, it is how precious it is to have a place TO BE TOGETHER. The Prescott School brought children together and now brings together generations of parents, grandparents and just good folk looking to share friendships, that we used to find in neighborhoods.
In our type of town, new institutions always bring forth rugged debate, as it should be in vibrant democracies.
However, there also comes a point, when we end debate and rally around a project from out of the heart of our community. This is such a time. The Prescott Community Center has overcome many obstacles with old fashioned hard work Mary Jennings and the hardy souls, who have scrubbed and painted have earned my and many other Grotonian's respect many times over.
Manager Haddad and Select Board Members, respectfully, you would do yourself proud to fully throw your considerable influence behind Prescott now and for the years to come. Then we can move forward to rally together around other, also exciting, quality-of- life projects, such as becoming an international music destination. We are blessed to live in such a lovely community in what Harvard historian, Daniel Pinker, makes the case for being the best time in all of history.

With Great Respect,
Eric Fenn Elbot
