Changing the Town Seal is Absurd Proposal
To the Editor,
"There are much better ways to spend an estimated $76,926 of taxpayers' money than on this absurd proposal. It should not be incumbent upon taxpayers to incur this expense. Moreover, changing a seal that has embodied our town's character and has been the historical symbol since it was designed by Samuel Green in 1847, infringes upon the First Amendment rights of those who feel this seal continues to represent Groton's core values. This view is a minority view that does not reflect the values of the vast majority of Groton townspeople"
