Amelia Way Residents "Extremely Upset" Town Won’t Be Plowing

I am responding to the article in last week’s Groton Herald about the postponement of the acceptance of Amelia Way as a town road. Per the Town’s own Road Acceptance Policy, the legal issue of roadway ownership is not supposed to be handled until after Town Meeting (please see attached sections B.2., B.3. and C.6. discussing items to be completed“AfterTownMeeting”).
I was not aware that the article had been removed from the Warrant until that notice was put on the screen at the Town Meeting.
Additionally, I have spoken to the residents of Amelia Way, and contrary to what Select Member John Giger is quoted as saying [that Amelia Way “absolutely did know” that we needed their signatures ahead of the Meeting] they did not know.
In fact, they are extremely upset that the Town will not be providing plow services this winter. Amelia Way resident Steve Phaneuf has seen the efforts that Grand Coast has gone to in order to get this Roadway Accepted for over 18 months.

Thank you,
