So Many Things to Do and Learn at Groton's Own Prescott Community Center

Fundamentals Of Painting:  Tuesdays, May 7 - May 28th 2:00-5:00 p.m.  This course is for beginning and returning painters who want to acquire fundamental painting skills and new approaches to painting with either oils or acrylics.  

Garden Twine Light Globe:  Thursday, May 9 6:30-8:30 p.m.  Twine light globes have a beautiful, natural look, that will add a soft glow to your indoor or outdoor décor. Hang them from a garden hook, tree branch, or string along a rope outdoors. Indoors, they can be placed on a table top, mantel, or hung from the ceiling. Students will make at least one globe.

iPhone Photography:  Saturday, May 11 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. In this seminar, you will learn how to take wonderful photographs with your iPhone. Learn how to use its functions to creatively compose shots, expose for great images, and use apps for editing, post-processing, and backup. Please note that this course is for Apple iPhones only.

Small Museum Gems: Harvard Art Museums:  Wednesday, May 15 10:00 a.m.  In May, join us for a general tour at the Harvard Museums in Cambridge and see the preservation of the Otto Piene sketch books recently donated by Elizabeth Goldring.

Groton’s Architecture From The Colonial Period To The Twentieth Century:  Thursdays, May 16 - May 30 7:00-8:30 p.m.  Learn how Groton’s architecture has evolved and changed over the centuries.  This class will spotlight important Groton buildings, mostly historic houses, and set them against the social and architectural trends of their periods.

Shake Your Soul®: The Energy Of Dance:  Mondays, April 1 - June 3 10-11 A.M. (No Class 5/27).  Drop-Ins Welcome!  Get a workout at your own pace and have fun moving and grooving to great music!  

Yoga Fusion: (All Levels) Wednesdays 9-10:15 a.m. through May 29 OR Fridays 9-10:15 a.m. through June 7, except 5/10.  Drop-Ins Welcome! Slow Flow Yoga strengthen muscles; enhances joint flexibility and energy flow. Class includes meditation practice.

Tai Chi Ch’uan:  Tuesdays through May 28 7-9 p.m.  DROP-INS WELCOME! This class teaches Chen Man Ching’s short form of Tai Chi Ch’uan.  Although there is a martial arts aspect to Tai Chi, this class focuses on the health benefits of the form, both mental and physical.  All levels welcome!

Getting To Know Groton:  Thursdays, through May 30 1-3 p.m. DROP-INS WELCOME!  Spend some time “behind the scenes” of many Groton institutions and landmarks with fellow Groton citizens. May 9 takes you to the Shirdi Sai Baba Temple and First Parish Church of Groton.
