Groton History Up Close: A Ramble down Main Street and A Tour of the Boutwell House
Groton History Center June Ramble
The iconic churches of Groton create an immediate impression driving along Main Street. Whether traditional white with a spire or something architecturally unique, these churches have been a part of our history since Groton’s founding in 1655. Join a walk along Main Street Sunday, June 9 from 2-4 p.m. Rain date June 16. Visit First Parish/Groton Meetinghouse and Union Congregational Church and stop outside the former Baptist Church and former Roman Catholic Sacred Heart Church. An informative handout will be provided and directions to three other churches in Groton for independent visits. Park on the street while being respectful of private property and meet at First Parish Church at 2 pm. For more information regarding events at the Groton History Center check out grotonhistory.org

Tour the newly renovated & decorated 1851 Boutwell House including the “Dressing Room” which has just recently been opened to the public for the first time ever! This hour-long tour will be given by our former student intern, Joshua Vollmar, who has completed much research on the Boutwell House and the Boutwell Family, adding richly to what we had previously known.
