Flowering baskets adorn the length of the front porch of the Groton Inn as part of a "new" Inn tradition to provide a colorful welcome to Main Street. They follow the display of the bright spring tulips. “These baskets hopefully send a small sign to the community that life goes on despite COVID 19 and that we will make it through this time together,” Groton Inn Proprietor John Amaral said. The Inn’s restaurant, the Forge & Vine, is now open for outdoor dining under a newly installed tent and provides seating in accordance with the social distancing directives. A lovely evening boating adventure gone awry. A Groton man, preparing to launch his boat at Baddacok Pond at the public boat launch, anticipating a pleasant summer-evening cruise around the pond, didn’t set his parking brake, so his boat, trailer and car all ended up sliding into the pond, requiring police assistance.
Caught in the Act! This squirrel managed to get into the birdfeeder! Now the homeowners had to decided what to do next: leave it there and not resupply the feeder for an indefinite time, or be compassionate and release it? Decision: slowly open the top and send him on his way! Photo courtesy of Jeff Ohringer.
