Fuel Assistance 2019 - 2020

Community Teamwork’s Fuel Assistance program runs from November 1-April 30. This program helps lower income households with their fuel bills. If you are a Groton senior resident and your income is $35,510 or less for a one-person household or $46,437 or less for a two-person household, you may qualify for Fuel Assistance.

Drawbridge Puppet Theater's Fourteenth Anniversary

September 2019 marks Drawbridge Puppet Theater’s fourteenth anniversary at its current location. To mark this prodigious occasion there will be an Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, September 7. Admission is only $5 per person that day and for that single price you get to see a 20-minute puppet show performance of “Aesop’s Fables II” (which includes the fables “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” and “The Alien & The Acorns”). 

EDITORIAL: Groton’s New Financial Early Warning System

Expensive ‘mission critical’ spending initiatives suddenly appearing on the town ballot with little warning have been a source of growing frustration for voters. Despite our town government’s financial management expertise and the town’s superlative bond rating, many voters feel that such high-dollar, unanticipated spending initiatives are signs of poor financial planning at best, and intentional manipulation at worst.
